The Trends icon guides students to look for tendencies and influences within the content. Learners are urged to think about how the patterns associated with the topic have changed over time and identify the causes and results.
Curricular Examples:
- Investigate the trends in the use of natural resources versus manmade resources over the past 100 years.
- Differentiate the character archetypes in the story and predict the possible outcomes.
- Analyze how the mission system expanded the influence of Spain and Catholicism throughout the missions.
- Compare and contrast the tools and machines of measurement.
Question Stems:
- How does a statistician use information about how patterns have changed over time?
- What would a geneticist recommend after studying the outside influences affecting the information about the genome project?

Task Statement:
Students will judge with criteria the trends of ancient civilizations using selected texts and primary sources and present their findings in a graphic organizer.
