TALK (Thinking with Academic Language & Knowledge) Cards are designed for use with all students to raise the level of thinking and offer practice of the academic vocabulary. TALK Cards also benefit in a classroom setting to encourage English Learners to use high level thinking and develop academic vocabulary. Regular use of the TALK Cards will help create opportunities for students to demonstrate their thinking ability in speaking and writing, thus enabling teachers to better identify student needs, including gifted English Learners.

This resource is printed in color, double-sided, on 5”x7” heavy 24 point durable card stock paper. The TALK Cards include information on Depth and Complexity sentence stems for building academic language, 13 ready-to-use activity ideas with implementation strategies and examples, and 8 sentence stems for each of the 11 dimensions of Depth and Complexity. The set also includes two durable binder rings for ease of use.

She also served on the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) Board and as Chair of the Texas Education Commissioner’s Gifted and Talented Advisory Council. Marcy currently serves as Facilitator for the TAGT Emerging Leaders Program and Chair of the National Association of Bilingual Education Gifted and Talented Special Interest Group. She also works as an education product developer (Q3 Cards, TALK Cards, and Academic Language Cards) and provides professional learning for educators working with gifted and multilingual populations.
